Men of A-Chord

The men of A-Chord are composed of Christian men from various Protestant denominations who live in the southern and western suburban areas of Chicago land. Our goal is to honor Christ as our Savior and Lord and to spread the good news of His gospel wherever we go. We endeavor to point men and women to Christ, the only hope of salvation, through our singing. It is our purpose to minister to people, not to entertain. The original chorus was organized in 1953. Our concerts provide or augment the worship services of congregations of the Christian church.

The Heritage Singing Men

As history recorded the 200th birthday of the United States in 1976, many Christian citizens reacted with various expressions of praise and thankfulness to God for His faithfulness over the years. It was a time to reflect upon our heritage as Americans and also to be reminded of our historical Christianity.

As Christian men, we included in our programs songs of our Christian heritage handed down to us by our forefathers, which give expression to our innermost feelings of gratitude to God for the great things He has done. We have continued to this day, taking part in worship services and rpograms, singing songs both old and new, spreading the “good news” of God’s love and mercy as shown to us through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is our hope and prayer that these songs will be a source of inspiration and joy to all who hear, even as they are for the men who sing them.

The Singing Hims

The Singing Hims began in 1976 and are completing their 32nd year of musical ministry singing praise to God. The membership began with the men from Wyoming, Michigan churches and has since included men from more than a dozen area churches. Many have been with the group since its beginning, including the director, Jack Ponstine.

Jack and his wife, Kris, one of our pianists, have directed and led the Singing Hims in church worship services and have brought the “Good News of Jesus Christ” to those in jails, hospitals, nursing homes, missions for the homeless and campgrounds throughout West Michigan.

We are thankful to God for the gift of music that He has given us to share with you and others, always for His honor and glory. It is our prayer that He will continue to bless us with the privilege of presenting this sacred music and that people may hear the gospel story of Jesus Christ through our music.
